Level 2 Award in Child Development and Care

This qualification offers you the opportunity to gain a vocational qualification that gives you an understanding of child development and well-being necessary for working with children in a variety of settings. This course offers you an insight into your preferred learning style and develops the study skills needed to progress in childcare.

Assessment Includes:

  • External assessment – multiple choice paper
  • Assessment work, presented using different methods

Level 2 Certificate Introducing Caring for Children and Young People

This qualification will prepare you for future learning and training, it provides you with fundamental knowledge needed to enter the Childcare sector.

The course covers:

  • Safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people
  • Importance of play for early learning
  • Craft activities with young children
  • Nutrition and healthy diet
  • Sharing learning experiences with children

Assessment includes:

  • Written assignments
  • Coursework
  • Optional tasks

This course is knowledge-only but we highly recommend a work placement.


Level 1 Award and Certificate for Caring for Children

This qualification encourages you to learn and develop your understanding of caring for young children and the skills required. The course covers children’s growth, learning and development.

Assessments Include:

  • Designing charts
  • Creating leaflets
  • Coursework
  • Oral questioning
  • Group work

Work placement is recommend with this course, but it can be a shorter one.


Level 2 Certificate in an Introduction to Early Years Education

This qualification will prepare you for working with children between birth and five years of age, with knowledge of children up to seven years old.

You will study:

  • The role of the early years practitioner
  • Legislation, framework and professional practice
  • Play, development and learning for school readiness
  • Professional development

Assessments Include:

  • Coursework
  • Oral questioning
  • Group work
  • Assignments
  • Practical aspects

You will be encouraged to undertake a minimum of 250 work placement hours; this will assist you in the assessment process and evaluating your skills in the real working environment.


Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator)

This qualification will enable you to work with children from birth to five years of age, and to gain knowledge of children aged up to seven years old. This is a gold standard qualification that meets the minimum standard set out in the National College of Teaching and Leadership (NCTL).

You will study:

Health and Social Care Level 2

This qualification will provide you with the knowledge and expertise to work within the Health and Social Care field.

  • Human lifespan development
  • The impact of diet on health

Health and Social Care level 3

This qualification will provide you with the knowledge and expertise to meet the needs of individuals within this field. The course will provide you with the theoretical background which is reinforced with practical skills. This course has UCAS tariff point and progression opportunities to University.

Level 3 requires you to be responsible for your own learning experience, for this reason you will be encouraged to undertake independent research and come prepared for learning. Work placement is an element of the course, as learners you will be encouraged to reflect on your experience and identify your own strengths and weaknesses.


Hairdressing Level 2

This professional qualification will help you to develop your skills and expertise within this sector, you will be provided with practical opportunities to develop your skills and confidence within the training salon at Motive8. You will cover a range of services offered within the Hairdressing industry to extend your opportunities for your future.

The course covers:

  • Working in the hair industry
  • Health and safety in the salon

  • Shampoo and condition the hair and scalp
  • Promote products and services to clients in a salon
  • The Art of dressing hair
  • Create an image based on a theme within the hair and beauty sector

You will be encouraged to gain experience from a practical work placement, we do work in partnership with salons to offer you this opportunity. You will also be required to wear a uniform consisting of all black with black flat shoes.


Beauty Therapy Level 2

This professional qualification will help you to develop your skills and expertise within this sector, you will be provided with practical opportunities to develop your skills and confidence within the training salon at Motive8. You will cover a range of services offered within the Beauty industry to extend your opportunities for your future.

The course covers:

You will cover an introduction to the Hair and Beauty sector, you will learn more about the different services offered in Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy . You will be undertaking both theoretical aspects and practical assessments in the salons.

Sport Level 2

This qualification will provide you with the information and skills required to understanding and know more about the sporting industry. You will be involved in designing sporting activities and will be expected to participate in sporting activities. This course will suit an individual who is motivated by physical activity and wants to participate in a more practical based course.

Uniformed Services

This qualification will help prepare you for employment. It has units around research into the Uniformed Services but the skills that are gained from participating in this vocational course are transferable. This course can be taught from level 1 to level 3.

Classroom Assistant - Supporting Teaching and learning in Schools

This qualification will enable you to develop the knowledge and skills needed when supporting teaching and learning in the school environment.

You will cover:

Positive Alternatives Programmes:

This programme is being developed for young people aged 14-16 years that are identified as underachieving within formal education. A programme that is specifically targeted to their interest is to be offered, and they can achieve a nationally recognised qualification as well as gain personal development skills and experience working with other people.
